Description
In legend, the Unicorn is reputed to live for thousands of years and to be the noblest of all animals. A creature with complex symbology which is equated with chastity, an emblem of fiercness and the sword and the word of the God/Goddess. Associated with the lunar feminine principle, it is often described as being slightly larger than a white horse, with blue eyes like saphires and a red tip on the end of its single horn, like a flame. In fact, it reputedly uses its horn like a sword, displaying great ferocity and cunning. Other attributes include strength of mind and body and incorruptilbility. Often they are depicted on each side of the tree of life as guardians. In alchemey the Unicorn is quicksilver. In Greek mythology the Unicorn is associated with lunar Goddesses, especially Artemis and Diana.
